Air ambulance attends 'terrifying' two-vehicle smash as cops lock down Scots road

An air ambulance attended the scene of a "terrifying" two-vehicle road crash in Ayrshire this afternoon. Police raced to the A78 at Skelmorlie at around 2pm today.

It is undestood at least two fire engines, two ambulances and an air ambulance have attended the smash. Cops have locked down the road and say there is no information on any casualties at this stage.

Speaking to the Record one local spoke of passing the crash site and said there was an "alarming" amount of emergency vehicles attending the incident.

A Police Scotland spokeperson confirmed they are still at the scene this afternoon.

They said: "Around 2pm on Saturday, 29 October, police were called to a report of a road crash involving two cars on the A78 at Skelmorlie. Officers are at the scene and the road is currently closed."
