Air ambulance and armed police in Southwell after reports of medical incident

A number of residents spotted the air ambulance and a number of armed police in Southwell on Saturday (April 16) morning. Nottinghamshire Police received reports at 7.28am of a medical incident in Chatsworth Avenue.

Armed police were deployed to the scene, and the air ambulance was called out. But both of these deployments were on standby and were not required, as an ambulance and paramedics dealt with the incident.

Police have said the incident was not as first described by callers relating to an injury.

A spokesperson for Nottinghamshire Police said: "We received a call at 7.28am to an incident on Chatsworth Avenue. Armed police were deployed as a precaution, but were not required.

"The air ambulance was also called and was on standby, but was not required. The incident was not as first described by callers.

"It ended up being a medical emergency, and the ambulance dealt with the incident. Someone was injured in their garden on Chatsworth Avenue or walking along the road.

"The incident is now closed from a Nottinghamshire Police perspective."
