Hibs finished last season in the Premiership's bottom six - but Aiden McGeady says that trophies are on his mind as he returns to Scotland with Hibs.
The winger has been searching for a new club since leaving English League One club Sunderland at the end of last season, following their promotion to the Championship. Hibs boss Lee Johnson worked with McGeady during his stint in the Black Cats hotseat and has moved to bring him into his Leith fold on a one-year deal.
Now 36, the tricky attacker joins his new teammates for a warm weather training camp in Portugal as the countdown to competitive action continues to tick down. Johnson's first match as boss at Easter Road takes place on July 9th against Clyde in Premier Sports Cup action and he has been busy making additions to his squad. Friendlies with Hartlepool United and Burton Albion await this week.
Already this summer, McGeady's former Celtic team mate David Marshall, Nohan Kenneh, Momodou Bojang, Rocky Bushiri, Lewis Miller, Jair Tavares and Kyle McClelland have signed for Hibs during the course of this summer transfer window so far.
While they'll be looking for better than the bottom six in this year's Premiership, their new signing doesn't see why his new team can't compete with former employers Celtic - who he left in 2010 - and Rangers for trophies.
He said: “I am a bit of a veteran now, but I am hoping that I can use my experience to help improve some of the younger players. Having said that, first and foremost I am here to play, I am not a coach.

“Last season was a difficult season for the club, but the aim for this season needs to be to finish as high as possible in the league.
“We need to improve on last season that is for sure, but I want to win things, I am here to win trophies and push the Old Firm all the way.
"I am absolutely delighted to be here. At my age, I am in a very privileged position in the fact that the manager wanted me in his plans and was so keen to bring me in."
