AGRA: An online link to the CCTV cameras of Dr Bhimrao Ambedkar University's examination centre showed footage of a battery godown on Tuesday.
Moreover, a majority of the 403 centres either sent the wrong IP address for accessing the footage or did not share it with the authorities. On Wednesday, footage of only 95 cameras was accessible.
The university is conducting exams for its undergraduate courses. The state government had ordered the administration to install CCTV cameras at all examination centres and the plan was to monitor the process live via a control room. The room was set up at the varsity’s institute of engineering and technology.
On Tuesday, control room staffers, while accessing the CCTV footage of the Guru Niranjan Maharaj Mahavidyalaya examination centre, found visuals of a battery godown. A control room staffer said that similar visuals were seen on Monday as well. Despite the complaint that day, required action was not taken by the centre in-charge, he alleged. A report has been sent to the examination controller, Ajay Krishna Yadav, for further action.
Yadav said, “Sending the IP address of a godown in place of the examination centre indicates malpractice. A notice has been issued to the centre in-charge. Strict action will be taken in all the cases related to sharing incorrect details.”
Out of 403, only 217 examination centres furnished IP addresses and passwords to allow authorities access to the CCTV footage. Of these, visuals of only 95 centres were accessible. The remaining 122 either sent the wrong details or had technical glitches. One-hundred-and-eighty-six centres did not furnish details at all.
Pro-vice chancellor Ajay Taneja said, “Notices have been issued to the examination centres who had either sent wrong IP addresses and passwords or did not send any details. Some of them need to update their software. They have been warned of strict action in case they fail to ensure that footage is accessible to the control room. Flying squads and static magistrates appointed by the local administration are reaching the examination centres to ensure fair exams.”
The university administration also cancelled the B.Sc exam conducted at the CRMS degree college on Tuesday. During inspection, the exam controller found "cheating material". “The examination centre has been debarred and will not be allowed to hold exams in the future. ” he said.
