Agitated Conor McGregor goes off on UFC for inactivity: ‘Give me something … My patience is wearing thin’

Conor McGregor is far from happy with the state of his fighting career.

Saturday, the UFC star went off on the UFC and the lack of clarity surrounding a return date to the cage. In an interview with Talk Sport Boxing, McGregor (22-6 MMA, 10-4 UFC) expressed his frustration and claimed he’s being unfairly treated by the promotion given his status in MMA.

“Give me something,” McGregor said. “It was supposed to be April, (and before) it was supposed to be December. They never treated anyone – no one hass ever been treated (like this) for all the figures I’ve brought in this game.

“I sell more than all of them combined. I see more than all of them combined. No one in the history of the fight game has ever been treated the way I’m getting treated – to what I came through, to what I bring … I’m waiting, I’m waiting and I’m waiting. My patience is wearing thin.”

The former two-division UFC champion hasn’t competed since he broke his tibia in a trilogy bout against Dustin Poirier at UFC 264 in July 2021. He’s been recovering ever since, and he recently entered the USADA testing pool – the UFC’s anti-doping program, which will be replaced starting in 2024 by Drug Free Sport International.

Earlier this year, McGregor coached Season 31 of “The Ultimate Fighter” against Michael Chandler. McGregor manager Audie Attar told MMA Junkie earlier this month there’s a push to make the Chandler fight happen at UFC 300 in April.

McGregor is frustrated with his inactivity and hopes to get something booked soon – even if it’s in the boxing world.

“Get me back in there. It’s f*cking bollocks,” McGregor said. “The Mac has loads to offer, loads to deliver. They’re talking Manny (Pacquiao). I don’t give a f*ck. They’re talking Manny here in Saudi. The lads in the UFC aren’t really talking any. So the lads here are talking Manny, and the UFC aren’t talking any.”
