'Aggressive, dangerous' woman banned from Jet2 for life after causing chaos on Manchester flight

A woman has been banned from Jet2 for life after screaming in the faces of staff and causing chaos onboard a flight from Manchester Airport.

Catherine Bush was filmed shouting and pacing up and down the flight as she launched into a foul-mouthed rant at crew members. The flight to Turkey had to divert to Vienna just two hours after it had taken off.

She also reportedly slapped other passengers onboard during her aggressive outbursts. She has now been fined £5,000 by the airline and banned from travelling with Jet2 for life.

Bush, from Cleckheaton, Yorkshire, 'displayed a catalogue of aggressive, abusive and dangerous behaviour', the airline said, which included 'physical aggression towards other customers and our crew'.

Her 'appalling behaviour' led to her being escorted off the flight by armed officers. She was heckled by other passengers as she was arrested.

In a statement issued today, Phil Ward, managing director of Jet2.com, said: "Ms Bush displayed a continued pattern of appalling behaviour on the flight and she must now face up to the consequences of her actions. We have always made it abundantly clear that, as a family friendly airline, we take a zero-tolerance approach to such behaviour and that we will vigorously pursue any costs incurred as a result of such an incident.

"Although such incidents are very rare, it is unacceptable that our customers and crew should have to experience it. We would like to apologise to anyone who had to experience this behaviour and we would like to commend our highly-trained crew for their exceptional handling of this difficult situation."

The airline added it will fully support the authorities with any subsequent investigation.
