The aggravated menacing charge filed against Cincinnati Bengals running back Joe Mixon has been dropped.

Friday, the charge was formally dismissed at the request of the Hamilton County prosecutor’s office.

Video obtained by WLWT’s Karin Johnson captured the process in which it is stated that the reasoning for the dismissal is because further investigation is needed. The victim still wants to pursue if they refile at a later date.

An arrest warrant for Mixon was issued Thursday and the Bengals released a statement in response. Mixon’s agent quickly issued a statement saying the charges would be dropped, alleging a “rush to judgment.”

The original charge alleged Mixon pointed a gun at a victim in the 300 block of Walnut Street on Jan. 21. The Bengals played the Buffalo Bills the following day in the divisional round of the playoffs in Orchard Park, New York.
