Agent sent praying emoji for £50m Liverpool move as reporter breaks silence on Jurgen Klopp gaffe

Here's your Liverpool Morning Digest for Friday July 2.

Premier League agent sent 'praying' emoji to make £50m Liverpool move

Hibernian sporting director Graeme Mathie said he is sending 'praying hands emojis' to John McGinn's agent over his link to Liverpool.

While the ECHO understands McGinn is not a player the Reds are looking to sign this summer, the Athletic has claimed Jurgen Klopp has previously been "impressed" by the Scotland star.

The Scotsman's recent link to Liverpool had Mathie sending messages to McGinn and his agent 'praying' for a move to Anfield.

The Hibs sporting director said: “Every time there is a link I send it to his agent with praying hand emojis saying ‘Is there any chance this summer could be the time we get a bit of a sell-on?’

“He always comes back with laughing emojis and doesn’t tell me too much.

"But fair play to John, I think you can see at Euro 2020 with Scotland he has gone and played against some of the best players in the league again and shown and done well. So it’s no surprise he is being linked with these types of moves."

'Massively backfired' - TV reporter breaks silence after embarrassing 'Jurgen Klopp' gaffe

TV reporter Jonathan Swain has spoken for the first time since being caught out by a Jurgen Klopp lookalike at Wembley.

A doppelganger of the German was first spotted on Wembley Way ahead of Tuesday’s Euro 2020 clash between England and Joachim Low’s side.

In fairness to Swain, the fake Klopp donned a Liverpool baseball cap, a black Nike Reds jacket and a pair of black Adidas tracksuit bottoms in a very realistic portrayal of the manager.

Videos then emerged online of the lookalike drinking cans of beer and singing 'It's Coming Home' on the streets after the game as England fans celebrated a famous 2-0 win.

The ITV reporter had proudly taken to Twitter with a selfie with who he thought was the Liverpool boss before recalling his encounter on Wednesday’s Lorraine.

"As I was going into the stadium last night, I caught up with Jurgen Klopp as well, the Liverpool manager. Of course he’s German,” Swain told Lorraine Kelly.

"He was a great sport yesterday, chatting to many of the England fans.

"Even after the match, he was on the shoulder of some England supporters, drinking a can of beer. Just here, on Wembley way. What a tremendous chap he is."
