Agent gives update on Victor Osimhen's future amid Manchester United transfer links

Roberto Calenda, the agent of Napoli striker Victor Osimhen, has confirmed that the Nigerian has no plans to leave the Italian heavyweights amid links with a move to Manchester United.

Osimhen, who joined the Serie A giants from French club Lille in July 2020 for a club-record fee of €70million, is considered one of the most sought-after strikers in European football. He scored 18 goals in 32 appearances in all competitions last season, 14 of which came in Serie A.

The 23-year-old, who has also played for Wolfsburg in the past, has started this season in similar vein, scoring four goals and getting one assist in eight appearances. He recently returned from a muscle injury and marked the occasion with a goal, scoring in Sunday's 3-2 win over Bologna.

Osimhen has frequently been linked with a move to United in recent months, such is the Reds' need to recruit a younger striker. They are desperate for a reliable goalscorer and Osimhen, such is his age and style of play, would be considered an ideal fit for Erik ten Hag.

However, Calenda has admitted that Osimhen has no intentions of leaving Napoli anytime soon, pointing to how it was always his wish to stay with the Serie A club throughout the most recent transfer window.

"We haven't found out now that Osimhen is the subject of interest from so many teams, but things are done in three: who sells, who buys and the player," Calenda told Radio Kiss Kiss. "I was immediately clear this summer because I knew there would be a lot of news coming out from those who had other interests perhaps. But I, the boy and Napoli had very clear ideas.

"Whoever talked about a departure made a mistake. It was Victor's will to stay at Napoli and play the Champions League that he won entry to last year together with his teammates.

"Victor wanted exactly that, to have a great year with Napoli, between the league and the Champions League. He has a long contract with the Azzurri. The market is dynamic, but our will is to continue at Napoli and continue to do well."
