Agent gives update on Manchester United midfielder Marcel Sabitzer's future

Roger Wittmann - Marcel Sabitzer's agent - has confirmed that a decision is yet to be made on the Manchester United loanee's long-term future.

The Austrian international, who will turn 29 next month, joined United on loan for the remainder of the season from German heavyweights Bayern Munich on transfer deadline day last month. The Reds swooped for the versatile midfielder after they discovered the extent of Christian Eriksen's ankle injury.

The former Tottenham Hotspur ace is set to be sidelined until late-April at the earliest, meaning United were left with no choice but to dive into the market and source a replacement, particularly with Scott McTominay, at the time, and Donny van de Beek also sidelined. They drafted Sabitzer in in a deal that was completed in a battle against the clock.

Sabitzer, who joined Bayern from RB Leipzig in August 2021, has settled into life at Old Trafford well, making four appearances so far. And although he is still adjusting to life in England, Wittmann is convinced that Sabitzer is already resurrecting his career after a difficult period at Bayern.

"At Manchester United we see Marcel from Leipzig again," Wittmann told Sport1. "I'm very happy for him."

Asked specifically about what will happen in relation to his future this coming summer, Wittmann continued: "We'll see when the time comes."

Sabitzer, who is available for selection for United's Europa League clash with Barcelona on Thursday evening, had often been linked with a move to England ahead of joining the Reds last month. Though he is only four games into his United career, Witmann insists he is tailor-made for the Premier League.

"He loves this English hardness," he added. "It was clear from the start that the Premier League was a great fit for him.

"He's an aggressive player. He does exactly what he can there. And that's what's needed there."
