Aged care resident allegedly repeatedly raped by man working at facility in Adelaide's south

Police allege the victim was sexually assaulted on three separate occasions earlier this year. (ABC News: Che Chorley)

A man has been arrested and charged after he allegedly repeatedly raped an elderly resident at an aged care facility in Adelaide's southern suburbs.

Police allege the 47-year-old worker at the home sexually assaulted the 79-year-old resident in January and February of this year.

"Police will allege a man working at the facility sexually assaulted a 79-year-old resident on three separate occasions," SA Police said in a statement.

The accused, from Adelaide's eastern suburbs, has been charged with three counts of rape.

Few details have been released, but police said the arrest — which occurred last Friday — was made by detectives after an investigation by the Southern District Criminal Investigation Branch.

The man has been granted bail ahead of his appearance in the Christies Beach Magistrates Court on March 30.
