The Albanese government has moved to quickly push its budget tax cuts through parliament in an apparent move to wedge the opposition. The bill passed through the lower house on Wednesday morning without Coalition support – a move Jim Chalmers highlighted in a National Press Club speech in which he repeatedly called out the shadow treasurer, Angus Taylor.

Elsewhere in Parliament House, the Greens senator Sarah Hanson-Young was admonished for waving a dead salmon during Senate question time.
