The Kangaroos have made it five wins in a row with a 23-point triumph over fellow top-six side Collingwood at North Hobart Oval.

Sunday's 6.2 (38) to 2.3 (15) victory was built on a strong start, with the Kangaroos kicking the opening four goals.

Former Magpie Jasmine Garner starred with 26 disposals and three goals for the match, while Emma Kearney (24 disposals) was also influential.

The Kangaroos' fifth win on the trot saw them rise to third place on the ladder with a 6-1 win-loss record, while Collingwood (4-3) remains in sixth spot.

The two sides have fought out some thrilling contests in recent years in what has developed into one of the league's fiercest rivalries.

The Kangaroos beat Collingwood by two points in an epic 2020 semi-final.

In last year's qualifying final, Collingwood got revenge by kicking the final three goals of the match to secure a famous victory.

But the root of the rivalry largely lies from several years ago, when the Kangaroos poached then-Collingwood stars Garner, Jess Duffin, Emma King and Moana Hope.

Star Collingwood forward Chloe Molloy made her feelings known in a Seven Network interview before Sunday's match.

"They had their reasons for moving on, but I was pretty loyal to the club," Molloy said.

"I'm a loyal person and it just hurt a bit, so that's probably the root of it [the rivalry]."

The strong pre-match statement backfired on Molloy, whose first possession did not arrive until the third quarter.

By that time the damage had already been done, with the Kangaroos' 18-point lead at half-time proving too much to overcome.

Garner set the tone with two goals in the opening term and she sealed the result with a strong mark and goal in the final quarter.

Molloy finished the match with just six disposals to her name in a far cry from last week's 18-disposal, two-goal display against West Coast.

Brittany Bonnici (18 disposals) and Jaimee Lambert (18 disposals, nine tackles and one goal) battled hard for the Magpies.

Collingwood's Erica Fowler suffered what appeared to be a serious injury to her right ankle late in the third quarter.
