Work on plans for almost 30 affordable homes at the site of a former hotel in Seacombe is set to begin.
Kingsmead Homes will shortly begin work on 28 apartments for affordable rent at land which used to be home to the Seacombe Ferry Hotel.
The firm is building the apartments, a mixture of one-bedroom and two-bedroom homes across four storeys, as part of an Onward Homes scheme.

The homes are set to be finished by next summer.
Stephen Heverin, director of growth and regeneration at Onward, said: “We’re looking forward to breaking ground on our Mersey View development, which will provide new and high-quality homes in a prime Wirral location at an affordable rate for local people.
“As an organisation committed to spending our Northern Pound more effectively, we’re excited to be working with Kingsmead Homes once again.
“Our experienced local contractors have a wealth of knowledge, experience and expertise, which really benefits our projects.”
Onward has worked with Sefton-based Kingsmead Homes for more than 14 years, delivering a range of affordable housing developments across the Liverpool City Region.
Craig McKibbin, managing director at Kingsmead Homes, said: “This will be our eleventh scheme with the team at Onward, and one that we are really excited and proud to be involved with.
“This new development is in a prominent position at the Seacombe Ferry Terminal and will form a truly recognisable landmark from the river and Liverpool waterfront.”
Labour councillor Julie McManus, chair of Wirral Council’s Housing Committee, said: “We are pleased to see this site being developed for very welcome affordable housing which will go towards meeting Wirral’s housing needs. This development by Onward will increase the availability and choice of affordable housing in the borough.”
