Aer Lingus has issued a statement after several customers were unable to access online check-in for their flights this morning.
The technical difficulty is the second the airline has faced in recent weeks, after an IT outage led to the cancellation of around 60 Aer Lingus flights last weekend. The issue was caused as a result of damage to a fibre optic cable in the UK and has since been resolved.
However, this morning’s check-in error has led to further frustration amongst customers. The airline has released a statement on Twitter to inform passengers they are aware of difficulties with check-in and are attempting to fix the error.

Aer Lingus wrote: “We are aware that some customers are again experiencing issues managing their bookings and checking in online. Our teams are working to resolve this as soon as possible. Check-in at the airport remains available free of charge for all customers.”
Customers took to social media to vent about the inconveniences they faced with Aer Lingus in recent weeks. One person responded to the airline’s statement and confirmed they were also facing difficulty changing their flight.
Aer Lingus previously told customers after last week’s IT outage to use airport check-in while the airline’s website and app remained inaccessible. They reiterated advice that passengers show up two hours ahead of their scheduled flight time for European flights and three hours ahead for transatlantic ones. The airline apologised for the upheaval caused by the widespread cancellations.
