Aer Lingus has been forced to cancel flights across Saturday and Sunday this weekend, after a week of further cuts for a number of reasons.
The latest rules brought in for London Heathrow have seen a cap of 100,000 on the number of passengers passing through each day. Therefore any flights that exceed the limit, are being scrapped to control delays for passengers.
Other reasons for this weekend’s cancellations include industrial action at Bordeaux and Lyon airports in France and Pisa airport in Italy as well as staff being affected by Covid-19.
In a statement, Aer Lingus said: "Elevated levels of sickness amongst our employees associated with the latest Covid wave" also contributed to yesterday's cancellations."
Therefore on Saturday, return flights EI550 and EI551 between Dublin Airport and Lyon and Bordeaux’s EI506 and EI507 have been cancelled, as well as one flight from London Heathrow to Cork, EI711.
On Sunday, return flights EI428 and EI429 between Dublin and Pisa are cancelled while the EI165 flight from London Heathrow to Dublin is also scrapped.
The airline continues to apologise to customers affected by the cancellations and says its teams are working to re-accommodate them "as efficiently and quickly as possible".
According to their website: “If your flight is cancelled, we will offer you the following assistance:
