Dublin Airport has announced that both its long term and short term carparks have sold out for this weekend.
The limited availability of car parking spaces is sure to cause problems for passengers travelling a long distance to the airport.
In a statement on Twitter, Dublin Airport said: “Car parking @DublinAirport is very busy for the weekend ahead, we are sold out across Long Term and Short Term car parks from Saturday through Sunday.”
The news comes after travel experts warned earlier this year that demand for parking would outweigh supply over the peak summer months.
The closure of a private car park, QuickPark, initially closed during the Covid pandemic but never reopened, has also impacted supply.
This resulted in 3,500 long term spaces being taken out of the system.
However, the DAA has issued some advice on alternative methods for arriving at the airport on time.
Car
Drop off
Dublin Airport provides designated setdown zones for anyone wishing to drop off passengers for a flight.
These zones are located outside both Terminal 1 & Terminal 2. Motorists should follow signs for T1 Departures or T2 Departures to access these setdown areas.
Please note for security and passenger safety, unattended cars will be towed away immediately.
Pick up
Should you be picking up passengers, you can avail of the short stay multi-storey car parks.
These car parks are clearly signposted on approach to both Terminal 1 & 2, and hourly rates start from €3.
Bus
There are plenty of bus routes to and from Dublin Airport, and the Transport for Ireland Journey Planner will allow you to search for and find all public transport routes.
Dublin Airport advises that you check directly with the bus company for the most up to date schedules and timetables.

Taxi
Passengers arriving by taxi will be dropped off on the forecourt directly outside either Terminal 1 or Terminal 2.
Passengers should follow taxi signage from Terminal 1 and Terminal 2 to the taxi ranks outside both Terminal 1 and Terminal 2.
A taxi dispatcher is available at both taxi ranks if you require any further information or assistance.
Hotel stays
Alternatively, passengers can book a hotel stay closer to the airport.
Dublin Airport has two partner hotels, the Radisson and the Maldron Hotels.
A one-night stay in the Radisson Hotel Dublin Airport will cost around €230, while the Maldron Hotel Dublin Airport costs €260.
