As we look ahead to the Oscars, we can't help but take a moment for one of the biggest names of the night: Adrien Brody.
The Brutalist actor and Academy Award nominee may be making headlines on the Dolby Theatre's red carpet later this evening, but we admit that we're slightly more distracted by the details of his home in New York City. 'Glamorised by the lavish lifestyle of the Silver Screen era, which championed opulent materials and clean, modernist silhouettes, it’s no wonder that the Art Deco aesthetic has stood the test of time and continues to inspire the styling of the trendiest contemporary homes,' comments Kris Manalo, the creative lead at Atkin & Thyme.
The most obvious way to tap into the look (if your space allows) is to follow Adrien's example and invest in a beautiful accent chair. It's best to go vintage or decorate with antiques, but some modern remakes are also stunning. To elevate the look further, Kris recommends pairing this statement furnishing with metallic and mirrored accessories that perfect a luxury 'roaring 20s' aesthetic.
'With a few well-chosen pieces, any room can get a touch of this timeless style. Cubism had a strong influence on Art Deco design, with angular outlines featuring prominently throughout the scheme. To replicate the look, go for furniture with defined structural lines and sharp angles – but make sure to incorporate symmetrical motifs; symmetry was a key cornerstone of the movement and one of its most palatable features,' she says.
'Luxurious and reflective materials were also integral to Art Deco styling, with metallic, mirrored, and glass finishes all proving popular. A glass-topped coffee table with a mirror shelf, for example, would make a perfect addition to an Art Deco living room. Pair these materials with dramatic colors and effects such as stained wood and lacquer to create an extravagant, yet elegant, look.'

'I love the subtlety with which it’s executed, and I think this will shape new trends in 2025. Just like in fashion, interiors are also cyclical. This is something we often do in our studio, too; I enjoy seamlessly bringing an Art Deco detail or a nod to Georgian architecture into the contemporary and making it feel relevant to a modern home.'
Whether Adrien Brody takes home the Oscar or not, his flair for interior design is, in our eyes, award-winning in its own right.
