Adrien Brody’s girlfriend Georgina Chapman has broken her silence on his kiss with Halle Berry at the Oscars on Sunday.
Berry, 58, planted a passionate smooch on Brody’s lips in front of Chapman on the red carpet at the awards ceremony.
The explosive stunt was “payback” for Brody, 51, kissing Berry onstage at the Oscars in 2003 when she presented him with the Best Actor gong for The Pianist.
Chapman, who has been dating Brody since 2020, addressed the moment in an interview with Extra, saying: “It was [quite the moment], wasn't it? I mean, how can you deny a man a kiss with Halle Berry?”
The fashion designer, 48, added that Brody didn’t get in trouble with her for the tactile display, insisting: “He was more than fine.”
Berry had apologised to Chapman, who was standing next to Brody, before the kiss, saying: “I'm sorry, Georgina, but I've gotta do it.”
The Catwoman star later told Extra that Chapman had approved the clinch, stating: “Oh yeah! Only because she was fine could I do it. 21 years I've been waiting to get him on a red carpet and slap on one.”
Berry, who won an Oscar for Monster’s Ball in 2001, shared a video of her kiss with Brody on Instagram and captioned it: “Surprise @adrienbrody!! I had to get some payback.”
The Die Another Day star previously revealed Brody kissing her at the 2003 Oscar’s was totally “unplanned”.
As he arrived onstage to collect his Oscar, he grasped Berry for a surprise kiss, dipping her and holding the smooch for several seconds.
“I bet they didn't tell you that was in the gift bag,”he joked as he released her, as she was seen looking shocked and wiping her mouth with her hand.
Berry appeared to reference the kiss in 2009 by snogging Jamie Foxx when he presented her with the Decade of Hotness award at Spike TV's Guys Choice Awards.
Brody scored Best Actor at the Oscar’s at the weekend for his role in The Brutalist and raised eyebrows with his acceptance speech.
Viewers were unimpressed with the actor’s “self-indulgent” words and called him out for appearing to throw his gum at Chapman for her to catch before he went onstage.
Brody and Chapman were first linked in 2019 following her split in 2017 from disgraced film producer Harvey Weinstein.
