Christian McCaffrey has been surrounded by NFL greats his entire life.
A photo recently went viral of a toddler McCaffrey sitting on the lap of Hall of Fame tight end Shannon Sharpe, who was wearing a Denver Broncos cap. McCaffrey saw the photo on social media and replied with two words:
“That’s Unc.”
Christian McCaffrey grew up watching his dad Ed play on the @Broncos with Shannon Sharpe.

This old photo of CMC and "Unc" is incredible. ❤️🥹 (via @ShannonSharpe, @CMC_22) pic.twitter.com/GC01Qt8q3t
McCaffrey’s father, Ed, was Sharpe’s teammate for five seasons on the Broncos. The elder McCaffrey played 13 NFL seasons as a wide receiver and was named to the 1998 Pro Bowl along with Sharpe.
The Broncos’ coach at the time, of course, was Mike Shanahan, the father of current San Francisco 49ers coach Kyle Shanahan.
The NFL is truly a small world after all.
