Cathal Heffernan flew home to surprise his mother ahead of this weekend's Cork county final.

Heffernan is currently over with Italian giants AC Milan after signing with the side as he pursues his professional football career.

But Heffernan decided to surprise his family with a visit home.

But he left the glamour of Milan to fly home as his father, Rob, took to Twitter, to share a video of Cathal surprising his mum ahead of the Cork Senior Hurling match.

The RedFM Breakfast show presenter Rob Heffernan said: "Cathal back from Milan to surprise his mammy and to support the Rockies for the county final."

The family were among thousands of hurling fans in Pairc Ui Chaoimh at the weekend for the biggest club game in Cork.

St Finbarr's ran out 2-14 to 1-07 winners in the final on Sunday.
