Adorable Edinburgh dog searching for new owner to 'go hillwalking with'

A sweet Edinburgh dog is searching for a new home after being taken into the care of the Edinburgh Dog and Cat Home.

Four-year-old TJ is looking for a forever family that will be able to 'take him hillwalking' and burn of some of his impressive energy as well as provide a quiet spot away from the city for him to relax.

A Staffie/Spaniel cross, TJ is described as a "boisterous" and "energetic" dog who would love to be involved in activities like scent work or agility.

However, staff at the EDCH also explained that due to his high energy levels, he will need to continue professional training once he is taken to a new home.

Speaking about TJ, a description read: "TJ is looking for an experienced owner who has previously had a boisterous dog with high energy levels. His new owner must be committed to continuing his training in a professional environment.

"He needs an adult only home without visiting children, and he will need to be the only pet in his home. He needs a home in a quiet area away from the city centre, with access to a secure and private garden which is not shared with neighbours.

TJ loves a good run around (EDCH)

"TJ is a very happy and friendly boy who wants to be active as much as possible. He has a huge amount of energy, he would love to go running or hill walking with his owner, and he would thrive being involved in an activity like Scent Work, Mantrailing or Agility. TJ can be very boisterous which can become overwhelming, so it is important that he gets all the exercise and stimulation that he requires every day.

"He will happily walk past other dogs, but due to some issues in the past, he can become too focused on other dogs which makes him anxious. He has been working really hard at learning alternative behaviours, and his new owner should be willing to bring TJ to the Home for more training sessions.

"His training sessions will need to continue unless arrangements can be made to work with another recommended positive trainer. TJ has a huge amount of potential and will be a very rewarding pet for someone who is willing to work with him."

You can find more information about TJ on the EDCH website.
