Adorable dog who is 'full of love' is crying out for a new home

He is "full of love and potential" - but hasn't been given a chance to show it.

Five-year-old Charlie has ended up at the RSPCA's Coventry and District Branch through no fault of his own.

The crossbreed has been added to the animal charity's 'extra-special animals' list as he keeps being overlooked by potential owners.

A statement reads: "Charlie loves to spend time with you and have lots of fuss and attention.

"Being a young boy, he has a lot of energy, so he is looking for an active home that can provide him with a lot of physical and mental stimulation throughout the day."

Charlie needs patient and understanding owners who can give him time to settle into their home and are happy to carry on with his training.

"Charlie is very clever and loves learning new things," the statement adds. "His new owners will have to be comfortable carrying on his current training as well as doing other work in the house.

"With his current training, he will need to be walked in areas where he will not see many dogs, or at quiet times of the day.

"He is looking for owners who are home most of the day as he will potentially not be keen on being left alone. Because of this, time alone will need to be built up very gradually at a pace he is comfortable with."

He can live with children aged 12 and above - but will need to be the only pet in the home.

The statement reads: "Charlie loves to run around and play so will need a secure garden with 6ft fencing.

"Charlie is full of love and potential, can you offer him his forever loving home?"

The RSPCA is urging people to adopt an animal in need rather than turning to breeders when wanting to welcome a pet into their family.

"While it may be easy to find animals on the internet or even spend hundreds on an expensive breeder, you could risk heartache or huge vet's bills if you don't do your homework," a statement reads.

"By adopting and not shopping you'll also feel good for doing good - by giving an animal a second chance at life in a loving home!

"Plus, adopting from us means that you can relax knowing that all our animals are healthy, neutered, vaccinated and microchipped.

"As with all the animals we rehome, we'll pass on the details of their behaviour and veterinary treatment. You'll likely know more about your rescue animal's history than if you were to buy an animal online!

"We've taken the time to get to know each animal as an individual, to understand their likes and dislikes and to prepare them for life in a loving family, which means there are less likely to be nasty surprises when you get home!

"When you adopt a cat or a dog from one of our centres, you'll also get four weeks free pet insurance, which is vital to protect your pet's future as well as your bank balance! There's so much to gain from rescuing an animal in need."
