Aditya Chopra, in the docu-series ‘The Romantics’, recalled going through a low phase where his production house churned out one flop after another. According to him, ‘Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi’ gave them a new lease of life.
Talking about it, Aditya said he realised that he needed to give the company a big successful film, and he would have to do it himself. He further stated that to come up with a sure-shot hit story, he went to London to write his story, which we saw in ‘Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi’. According to him, everyone’s problem was how would she not recognise him? The film would fail in its premise. That’s when Shah Rukh Khan came in.
He further revealed that Shah Rukh Khan agreed to the role of Surinder/Raj. Anushka Sharma, too, spoke about how Adi was adamant about keeping her casting a secret. She recalled that she was only 19 when she signed that film. Her first film and Adi said that she could not tell anyone. Even in the office, no one was allowed to tell each other. It was a huge secret. The filmmaker told the actress she couldn’t even tell her parents.
Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi not only gave the production banner renewed life but also a grand launch to Anushka’s career.
