Kevin Durant’s loyalty to Nike was on full display on Friday, as he bluntly turned down Anthony Edwards’s request to wear his new signature Adidas shoes. However, Adidas then came to the T-Wolves star’s defense, responding with an equally cold social media post.
While Edwards named Durant as the player he most wants to wear his sneakers, Durant declined the offer bluntly on Friday.
“Won’t EVER see me put a big toe in them Mfers,” he said.
However, Adidas would not let that stand, as the company’s social media account replied to that Durant post with a message of its own, before deleting it in a frenzy.
“U dusty bouta retire soon anyway,” the Adidas post read.

After deleting the post, Adidas sent a follow up appearing to take a shot at Durant’s past use of burner accounts.

Durant has been a Nike athlete since he entered the NBA in 2007 and his new lifetime contract with the company ensures that he will not go anywhere. So even if Durant is upset by Adidas’s post, it is unlikely that the message would ever come into play in business negotiations.
At 35 years old, Durant has already entered the back end of his career, but he is still playing at a high level for the Suns. Someone at Adidas, however, seems to think Durant’s retirement is just around the corner and lashed out in saying so.
