Adidas 'plans to sell Yeezys without Kanye West's logo and branding' after axing rapper

Kanye West's Yeezy footwear will reportedly 'go back on sale with Adidas' – but they'll be 'sporting a new name', without the controversial rapper's branding.

The fashion brand is allegedly planning to bring out new Yeezy trainers, without the Yeezy name and associated logos, as early as 2023.

Reports suggest the company has 'emphasised to their shareholders' that it remains the 'sole owner of the core designs of the current Yeezys in circulation'.

That reportedly includes 'shoe silhouettes and colourways'. TMZ reports that the brand "feel they have every right to keep hawking them".

"Yeezy designs will, in fact, live on at Adidas after all, but they'll have a completely different title when they drop," the outlet reported, quoting sources.

The Mirror has contacted Adidas for a comment.

The Bound 2 rapper caused controversy after recent events; notably a slew of online attacks, anti-Semitic Tweets, White Lives Matter stunts and podcast comments.

His comments have led some of the world's biggest brands stop working with the rapper, including Adidas which makes his trainer range.

Adidas, which was criticised for not acting sooner, said ending the partnership with Ye would have a "short-term negative impact" of up to $250m (£218m) on its net income this year.

"Adidas does not tolerate anti-Semitism and any other sort of hate speech," they expressed in a previous public statement.

"Ye’s recent comments and actions have been unacceptable, hateful and dangerous, and they violate the company’s values of diversity and inclusion, mutual respect and fairness.

"After a thorough review, the company has taken the decision to terminate the partnership with Ye immediately, end production of Yeezy-branded products and stop all payments to Ye and his companies. Adidas will stop the adidas Yeezy business with immediate effect."

The German sportswear brand added: "This is expected to have a short-term negative impact of up to 250 million euro on the company’s net income in 2022 given the high seasonality of the fourth quarter.

"Adidas is the sole owner of all design rights to existing products as well as previous and new colourways under the partnership. More information will be given as part of the company’s upcoming Q3 earnings announcement on November 9, 2022."
