Adele wanted to QUIT performing forever after 'traumatic' Las Vegas residency controversy

Adele has revealed she may never have performed again if her Las Vegas residency had gone ahead as originally planned before it was postponed at the very last minute back in January 2022.

The Someone Like You singer, 34, found herself at the forefront of controversy at the beginning of last year when she was forced to cancel her entire run of shows at Caesars Palace – less than 24 hours before the first show was set to kick off.

In a teary video message at the time, and said a lot of the crew had been suffering from Covid and so it had pushed back production.

After Adele faced intense criticism for cancelling her shows at such short notice, the run of concerts eventually kicked off over ten months later in November last year, and during her penultimate show on Friday, the singing sensation revealed that at one stage, she left as though she may never return to performing after the traumatic ordeal.

Adele told her audience: "I am sure you heard it got off to a very rocky start. A year and a half ago I had the audacity to stand up for myself and know something was not right for me. And it was crazy.

“I let a lot of people down, but had I let myself down I probably would have never seen you again.

"This has been a real highlight of my life for four months. So I am really glad you are here."

Last month, Adele broke down in tears during her Las Vegas residency show after she recalled her 'terrifying' ordeal.

Ending her string of highly sought-after gigs at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace in Sin City, the 34-year-old I Drink Wine hitmaker revealed that she stands by her decision to postpone her residency - despite it being shot in the dark at the time.

Speaking to the audience, Adele admitted: “I have been waiting for so long to get to this weekend and I didn't even realise it.

"What I haven't been able to get out of my head since the beginning of the show was that it took so long, and I was like, 'When am I ever going to say I've done my residency?'.

“And this weekend, if not for the added shows, I would have completed my residency.”

The Rolling In The Deep star continued with her sentiments, adding: “Even though I have got four more weekends left after this, I have been waiting for so long to get to this weekend.

“When I cancelled the original dates it was terrifying to do. But better late than never, and the shows have been a success.

“I knew I was making the right decision,” she revealed.
