Adele 'set for 2023 Grammy' after recovering from Las Vegas residency pullout

No, Adele and Ed Sheeran weren't snubbed at the Grammy Awards - it's just that their latest albums fell outside the eligibility period to be considered for the 2022 awards.

Whilst the two singer-songwriters weren't up for accolades at the event, which was held in Las Vegas last night, you can expect for them to reign at next year's ceremony.

Adele will have some making up to do with those still smarting that she cancelled her residency in the Nevada city just 24 hours before she had been due on stage.

One producer who had been working with her during rehearsals complained that she didn’t even give a heads-up to staff on the Caesars Palace shows before she issued her statement.

They grumbled: "We knew there were issues with the show but we didn't know she had decided to cancel them until she said so on social media."

"There was a lot of hard work that went on behind the scenes that sadly nobody got to see. It came as a real shock," the producer further commented.

Adele had been due to perform weekend gigs over three months in Las Vegas but tearfully announced that she was postponing them the day before the first night.

She cited issues with the Covid-19 pandemic as a mitigating factor, though reports have suggested there were production issues in the run-up to the performances.

The shows have not yet been rescheduled but Adele is due to perform at London’s British Summer Time festival in Hyde Park this July.

Adele opened up about the residency on the Graham Norton Show earlier this year, where she explained that there were "lots of different reasons" for the issue.

She said: "I really thought I would be able to pull something else together in time and that was why it was so last minute. I regret obviously that I kept going with it until that late in the day."

The singer said the production "just wasn't ready," citing that delays with pieces of the show and carpenters not being able to come to work, amid rules around isolation, affecting it.

She said: "It would have been a really half-a*** show and I can't do that. People will see straight through me up on stage being like 'she doesn't want to be doing this.'"
