There was a night when it would have been handy if Adele actually could Set Fire to the Rain.
The singer’s Emmy-winning US TV special One Night Only was almost plunged into chaos by unusually bad weather in LA last year.
The whole production had to be shifted forward, to avoid the thunderous storm.
Show director Paul Dugdale recalled: “It was almost comedic – howling wind and sideways rain… it was nuts. The show definitely wouldn’t have been able to happen.”
Thankfully, Dugdale is accustomed to handling bad weather, thanks to directing Glastonbury’s Live from Worthy Farm gig when – naturally – it poured down.
He said: “It is only a bit of rain, but when you’re playing a guitar that costs several thousand pounds in the wet, then that isn’t ideal.
“Coldplay and Kano were the wettest outdoor performances that happened. It wouldn’t have been Glastonbury without it, of course.”
Now, he’s at the helm of a special live broadcast of Coldplay’s Music Of The Spheres World Tour from Buenos Aires’ River Plate Stadium. It will be shown simultaneously in thousands of cinemas across more than 70 countries, including the UK.
Fingers crossed for a dry night.
