She's made millions singing about her marriage split... but it hasn’t stopped Adele’s ex-husband from being pals with her new man.
As the 34-year-old singer performed in London’s Hyde Park on Friday, her ex Simon Konecki and boyfriend, sports agent Rich Paul, 40, spent the night laughing and joking with each other backstage.
Simon, 48 – who is the father of Adele’s nine-year-old son, Angelo – hosted their A-list friends, including Cameron Diaz, Benji Madden, Niall Horan and James Corden, as well as TV presenter Lorraine Kelly.
One partygoer said: “Simon and Adele are like best friends and he gets on really well with Rich.
“She put Simon in charge of hosting all their pals in the backstage Queen Vic bar, which shows just how important he is to her.
“Rich was with Adele in her dressing room but as soon as she took to the stage, Simon was by his side. It’s lovely to see they are all one big happy family.”
On Radio 4’s Desert Island Discs, Adele reflected on the break-up of her marriage and said she remains close to Simon, which enables them to co-parent their son.
“Over my dead body is my kid having a messy divorce in his life,” she said.
Adele’s warm-up act at Friday night’s gig was Gabrielle. She told the radio show that the singer was one of her main inspirations when growing up.
After choosing Gabrielle’s track Dreams as one of her discs, Adele said: “I remember as a child I was mesmerised by her. I had conjunctivitis and the pharmacist said, ‘Wear an eyepatch’, and my mum sewed sequins on to be like Gabrielle.”
Hollywood star Tom Cruise was also among the star guests at the gig.
While on stage, Adele said, “Happy 60th birthday to Maverick”, and winked at the actor before starting her set.
Tom and fellow actor Luke Evans watched Adele perform from the VIP section.
After the concert, a fruit meringue cake was brought out and everyone gathered around the Top Gun star to sing Happy Birthday.
One onlooker said: “He looked totally chuffed.”
