Adele's dressing room is a masterclass in how to style a coffee table in a small space – here's how it's done

Adele.

Do you struggle with styling small spaces? When decorating a tiny room like a closet or dressing room, factors like scale and color become extra important. Choosing decor without making the room feel too crowded or too minimal is an incredibly difficult balance to strike, especially when the space includes furniture.

Adele's dressing room epitomizes how one well-placed piece of furniture can be used to make a small room feel perfectly designed. It all comes down to the styling of her coffee table.

Adele's dressing room coffee table is a chic, light-colored, and checked square piece of furniture. In the center of the coffee table, a dark, round tray offsets the shape of the piece. In the middle, decorative objects including a large crystal, a diffuser, and a colorful box take center stage. The decor leaves enough space to use the table for storage, which Adele has used to place her book (it's Her Majesty, by the way).

Artem Kropovinsky, interior designer and founder of Arsight, says Adele's design perfectly captures ideal coffee table styling in a small space. He says, 'An eye-catching focal point is recommended for a small square coffee table such as a vase with two additional items such as plants or books placed close by. It helps to create a balanced yet dynamic look.'

Carlin van Noppen, head interior designer and founder of Fig Linens and Home adds, 'When arranging coffee table decor, you should be placing decorative objects in sets of either 3 or 5. These numbers will give the coffee table a polished feel, thus making the decor look complete in a small space.'

Further, Artem agrees wholeheartedly with Adele's choice of color in her closet decor. He says, 'The dark-colored accessories on a light table add depth and profundity.' Artem continues, 'This combination creates an eye-catching feature on the table and draws attention.' This concept is exemplified in the way that Adele's dark decor pops so visibly on her light coffee table.

When arranging a coffee table in a small space, size matters. Artem suggests, 'Keep scale in mind. Ensure you choose accessories that are sized right enough so as not to bring a messy look to the table.' Adele's coffee table perfectly strikes this balance with a round tray that contains decorative objects while leaving space for storage. Together, the square coffee table and its decor bring a sense of glamor and completion to Adele's walk-in closet.

Arranging a coffee table is an easy way to elevate any small space as long as you keep color, scale, and the number of objects at the top of your mind. If you're not sure, you can always look to Adele's dressing room for inspiration.
