Adele finally admits Vegas show would have been 'half-arsed' as she explains cancellation

Adele has confessed her cancelled Las Vegas shows would have been "half-arsed" if they'd gone ahead.

The pop star left fans devastated when she d ecided to cancel her shows in Sin City at the eleventh hour, just hours before she was due to take to the stage for the first show.

In a teary video message, Adele admitted her shows weren't ready and said a lot of the crew had been suffering with Covid and so it had pushed back production.

Now, Adele has said her shows would have been "half-arsed" if they had decided to go with the original plan.

Speaking on The Graham Norton Show tonight, she said: "I tried my hardest and really thought I would be able to pull something together in time. I regret that I kept going until that late in the day.

"It would have been a really half-arsed show and I can’t do that. People will see straight through me up on the stage and know I didn’t want to be doing it. I’ve never done anything like that in my life and I’m not going to start now."

And Adele has promised "100 per cent" that the shows will go ahead this year sometime.

"We are now working our arses off, but I don’t want to announce a new set of dates until I know everything will definitely be ready. The sooner I can announce the better, but I just can’t in case we are not ready in time," she explained.

"It is absolutely 100% happening this year. It has to happen this year because I’ve got plans for next year. Imagine if I have to cancel because I am having a baby!"

Back in January, Adele admitted she was "gutted" to cancel the shows.

"Half my team, half my crew are hit by Covid, they still are and it's been impossible to finish the show and I can't give you what I have right now and I'm gutted," she explained in a teary video at the time.

"I'm sorry it's so last minute, we've been awake for over 30 hours now trying to figure it out and we've run out of time and I'm so upset and I'm really embarrassed. I'm so sorry to everyone that's travelled again, I'm really really sorry."

*The Graham Norton Show airs on Friday 11 th February on BBC One at 10.35pm and is available on BBC iPlayer.
