Adele fans who forked out thousands of pounds travelling to see the opening night of her Las Vegas residency were furious after it was cancelled at the last minute.
The singer postponed the start of her Las Vegas residency because the show is not ready, having been “absolutely destroyed” by delivery delays and coronavirus.
She was tearful in an Instagram video and said she was "really sorry" for the 11th hour delay - but it came as little consolation to fans who flew out especially for the show.
It could be months before they are rescheduled, the Mirror reports.
Antony Frear, from York, had travelled to the US to see the star as part of his 50th birthday celebrations with friends Simon Bell, 45, and Aaron Tyson, 38.
They each paid £4,300 for return flights, plus hundreds for a three-night stay at Ceasar’s Palace where Adele was due to perform. The concert tickets cost them £330 each.
Antony said: “I am so angry. We have spent thousands getting here but the ticket is not even worth the paper it is written on.
“It is disgraceful. Adele with all her millions should be refunding the money that we have shelled out.”
Simon added: “I’ll never listen to her again. She’s dead to me.
“Her crew may have gone down sick but why can’t she still appear?”
American fans also told of their anger at the cancellations.
Alison Devine, who flew from Tuscaloosa, Florida, for the show said: “It stinks. It doesn’t sound right at all.
“Delivery days must have been known about days before, if not weeks. As for Covid, it seems too convenient.
“They say we can have our tickets for when the new dates are announced but how the hell do I know what I’ll be doing then?”
Eleni Sabracos, from Baltimore, Maryland, also travelled to Las Vegas.
She had flown to London in July 2017 to see Adele only for that gig to be cancelled at the last minute.
But Eleni said: “I’m not mad with Adele.”
Tearful Adele told fans on Instagram: “I’m so sorry, but my show ain’t ready.
“I’m so upset and I’m really embarrassed. We’ve been destroyed by delivery delays and Covid. Half my crew and team are [ill] with Covid and still are, and it’s been impossible to finish the show.
“I can’t give you what I have right now and I’m gutted. I’m sorry, it’s last minute. We’re going to reschedule all dates. I’m going to finish my show.”
The Easy On Me singer said team members had been awake for “over 30 hours” trying to figure out how to put on the show but they had now “run out of time”.
“I’m so upset and I’m really embarrassed and I’m so sorry to everyone who has travelled again. I’m really sorry.
She added: “We’re on it right now, we’re going to reschedule all the dates and I’m going to finish my show and I’m going to get it to where it needs to be.
“It’s been impossible, we’ve been up against so much and it just ain’t ready. I’m really sorry.”
