Adele has branded Taylor Swift “one of the greatest songwriters of our generation”.
The Hello songstress shared her adoration for her fellow singer-songwriter during a special fan event, Happy Hour with Adele, to mark the release of her music video for her track, I Drink Wine, on Wednesday.
The 34-year-old admitted that she’s enjoyed Swift’s albums, Folklore and Evermore, during the pandemic and added that she admires the Anti-Hero singer for making her album releases “fun”.
During the event, the Tottenham native was asked by a fan whether she had listened to Swift’s Midnights album yet, which was released on Friday.
“I haven’t,” she responded. “But the only reason I haven’t listened is ‘cause I’ve been in rehearsals for like 12 hours a f***ing day.
“But, I think Taylor’s one of the greatest songwriters of our generation so I’ll definitely give it a listen.
“I loved the two [released] in Covid very, very much. I think she’s fun, as well. She makes a release fun.”
Not only that but Adele showed her support for fellow female musicians such as Britney Spears and Nicki Minaj during the fan event.
The Grammy winner revealed: “I think Britney Spears is one of the most talented musicians I’ve seen in the last 25 years. I can’t wait for new music from her.
“I think she’s wonderful. I’ve always loved Nicki Minaj, she’s a real vibe.”
The acclaimed singer’s comments come as she released a new music video to accompany her song I Drink Wine, which was released last year as part of her fourth studio album 30.
After teasing the video’s release on Tuesday, Adele revealed that it was the first video she shot for the album, despite already having released videos for Easy On Me and Oh My God.
30 was the biggest-selling album of 2021, according to the UK Official Charts, and Adele performed I Drink Wine at the Brit Awards in February, where she won album of the year for 30 and single of the year for Easy On Me.
After postponing her Las Vegas residency earlier this year due to delivery delays and Covid-19, Adele is set to begin her series of show’s at Caesars Palace next month, which will run until March 2023.
As well as the 24 rescheduled shows, eight more have been announced, with the residency running from November 18 to March 25.
