Adele acknowledged the upset over her cancelled Las Vegas residency during her two sold out headlining shows at London’s BST Hyde Park.

As Saturday’s performance drew to a close, she thanked fans for coming to her “first set of shows,” adding “even though they were meant to be somewhere else”.

On Friday, the Easy on Me hit-maker, 34, described herself as being “mortified” by the move as she apologised for “letting people down”.

She told the crowd: “I know that a lot of things have happened with this album and I’m sure a lot of you feel that you’ve been let down and stuff, which is mortifying really and upsetting to me.

“But I take my singing very seriously and the last thing I would ever want to do is let people down but I had to do that, it just wasn’t right.”

Adele had been due to perform a three-month stint at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace Hotel from January 21, but pulled the plug the day before saying her show “ain’t ready” in an emotional video posted on social media.

While over five months on rescheduled dates have yet to be announced and fans have not been offered refunds, she made a real effort to make amends by pulling out all of the stops during her first live shows in five years.

In addition to giving rousing performances of some of her biggest hits, she took every opportunity to tell the crowd how appreciative she was of them.

She also used special t-shirt guns to shoot out merchandise containing handwritten notes and £50 for “drinks at the bar” into the audience.

In a nod to it being Pride weekend in the captial, she donned a rainbow flag during the encore on Saturday,

Earlier in the show, she revealed that a member of her team had obtained it from some fans who in exchange had been bumped up to better standing position and given “many” tokens for the bar.
