Adele told a Las Vegas audience she drank four bottles of wine before lunch during lockdown.
The singer, 34, is said to have made the confession over the weekend as she completed the final show of the first run of her residency on Saturday night, while holding a glass of wine.
Adele reportedly said: “I remember when I came here in Covid, in lockdown, it was 11am and I was definitely like four bottles of wine in — like we all were.
“I said in 2020 that I wanted to put my album out. And we were all at home just drunk basically.”
The I Drink Wine singer previously revealed during her 2021 interview with Oprah Winfrey that she had “stopped drinking” after losing her estranged father to bowel cancer and dropped seven stone after cutting out alcohol altogether.
“That’s one great way of really sort of getting to know yourself, is just drinking water and being sober as anything,” Adele said at the time.
During her final show at the weekend, Adele surprisingly announced that she is extending her Las Vegas residency, adding 34 shows running up until November, delighting fans.
The London-born artist credited the residency for “bringing me back to life”.
According to The Sun, Adele said: “I feel so safe in here. My life is tiny. I don’t really leave my house and that’s by choice.
“My life used to be massive when I was younger. But it is like the bigger my career has got, the more scared and anxious I have become.
“I hang out with my dogs, my son and my boyfriend, and chat away with my housekeeper. On Friday and Saturdays, I really look forward to coming [to Vegas] and it feels like having a night out and seeing my friends. It’s brought me back to life.”
Speaking on her residency extension, Adele added: “Playing to 4,000 people for 34 nights is not enough. And I know it’s not enough, so I am coming back.”
The singer also announced to the crowd the release of a concert film of her residency.
