Deandra Dottin has capitalised on some luck to score an unbeaten 52 and help Adelaide Strikers to 5-147 in the WBBL final against the Sydney Sixers at North Sydney Oval.
Dottin was uncharacteristically restrained for most of her 37-ball innings but smashed two sixes and two fours in the last three overs.
But it could all have been very different, after she was dropped on one at backward point. A diving Nicole Bolton - playing her last WBBL game - got one hand to a tough chance but was unable to hold the ball.
The West Indies power hitter was then caught at deep square leg off a full toss two balls later, but was rescued when the delivery was ruled a no-ball because it was above waist height.
Two overs later, Dottin - by now on eight - had another reprieve off a no-ball, when she was caught off a miscued shot, but replays showed Sixers captain Ellyse Perry overstepped.
England spinner Sophie Ecclestone (2-19 of four overs) was the standout bowler for the Sixers.
The Strikers openers Katie Mack (31 off 26 balls) and Laura Wolvaardt (15 off 16) made an excellent start, putting on 51 before falling in successive overs.
South African Wolvaardt was the first to go, caught off the bowling Kate Peterson.
Mack got out to a rare hit-wicket dismissal, her back heel clipping the stumps and dislodging the bails, as she attempted to play a delivery from Ecclestone.
Dottin and captain Tahlia McGrath (24 off 21) added 44 for the third wicket before the Strikers skipper lifted a Bolton delivery to long on.
The Strikers failed to capitalise on their power surge overs losing 2-7.
Bridget Patterson (seven off nine) was bowled behind her legs trying to sweep Ecclestone, while Madeline Penna was out for a duck, caught at extra cover off Lauren Cheatle.
