Add Kendrick Perkins’ name to the list of those nonplussed about the Marcus Smart trade

If anyone knows how breaking up the core of a title team can go sideways for a ball club, it is former Boston Celtics big man Kendrick Perkins. Himself dealt away from Boston after a knee injury ended his season (and tenure) with the Celtics in 2011, Perkins has a unique perspective on Marcus Smart being sent to the Memphis Grizzlies for Washington Wizards big man Kristaps Porzingis.

Perkins expresses frustration over the Celtics trading Smart to the Grizzlies, emphasizing Smart’s value to the team. He questions the sudden hype around  Porzingis vs. Smart’s proven contributions to the team when it has mattered most in the postseason.
