'Adapt'- Chelsea icon sends indirect Neymar PSG transfer message amid Premier League U-turn

Many football supporters look down on Ligue 1, calling it a 'farmers league.'

The truth is that term is very harsh to use on a league that consists of historic clubs like Marseille, Lyon, Paris Saint-Germain and a few others. Of course, the competitive nature of the league isn't as great as the Premier League, but in recent times, the likes of Lille have managed to grab the crown from the Parisians.

The quality of football between England and France, though, varies. With more money in the Premier League, this has allowed England to see such fine talents from the European landscape move over from the continent to ply their trades here. Chelsea icon Didier Drogba was one of those who switched France for England when Roman Abramovich came calling in 2004. After a rocky start to his Blues spell which nearly culminated in an early exit under José Mourinho, trust and loyalty was the key that helped the Ivorian eventually settle and become a serial winner in SW6.

Since then, there have been many players that have made the switch over to the English Channel with mixed success rates. The next who could do that is Brazilian superstar Neymar.

The 30-year-old has been reportedly 'offered' out to Chelsea in an attempt for new sporting director Luis Campos to start afresh with a team Nasser Al-Khelaifi has suggested needs a real change at its core. "We don't want flashy-bling-bling anymore, it's the end of the glitter," he said via The Athletic.

Neymar is certainly one of those 'bling' players and despite all the exit hints dropped coupled with his Premier League U-turn, both the player in question himself and new manager Christophe Galtier have done things to suggest he may stay put.

Whilst returning to pre-season training, unlike fellow Chelsea Cristiano Ronaldo, Galtier expressed his desire to see their iconic number 10 stay put, which is a total contrast to what is wanted higher up in PSG.

"I want Neymar to stay here with us," the former Nice and Lille manager said in his unveiling press conference.

"He is a world-class player. All the managers in the world want top players like him. I've already got clear ideas on my plan for Neymar here at PSG".

Whether or not Galtier sticks by his word remains another question, but in a hypothetical sense, if the former Santos prodigy did move to SW6 in the forthcoming weeks, would he be a success?

Well, as Drogba experiences, a period of adaptation could be expected for the Brazilian before he was to meet the expectations of Chelsea supporters who are hungry for lethal attackers after the latest Romelu Lukaku failure.

Responding to comments made on talkSPORT, the 44-year-old retired striker said: 'Thank you Ash. Had to be able to do different things to adapt to the Premier League level of expectations. I Became a different player from what I was in France.'
