The NFL’s head coaching rumor mill has started to swirl in recent weeks. While Panthers coach Frank Reich was fired by the team following a Week 12 loss to the Titans, it appears there may be additional changes coming across the league in the near future.
NFL insider Adam Schefter believes there could be double-digit head-coaching changes this season, which he stated on The Pat McAfee Show.
“Last year, again, five [coaching] changes. This year? Seven to 10 [coaching changes] and I’ll take the over,” Schefter told McAfee.
"I believe we're gonna have anywhere between seven and ten Head Coaching changes this year..

McAfee couldn’t believe the prediction, citing the fact that this would be nearly one-third of the league potentially making head coaching changes.
Back in September, Sports Illustrated senior writer Conor Orr was also told by industry insiders to potentially expect 10 coach openings. Another source told Orr that it could be a “coachpocalypse” due to the relatively small number of coaches let go at the end of the 2022 season.
It’ll be interesting to see how the homestretch of the NFL regular season pans out, but it seems there are plenty of seats warming up quickly across the league.
