Adam Forshaw has sent a message to Leeds United fans as he attempts to come to terms with the Whites’ relegation from the Premier League. Leeds brought an end to their three-year stay in the top flight last month as the 4-1 loss to Tottenham on the final day of the season ensured they finished the campaign on a run of nine games without a win.
As such, United will be plying their trade in the Championship once more next season and plans are starting to be put in place as the club looks to bounce back at the first time of asking. It remains to be seen whether Forshaw will still be at Elland Road, though.
The midfielder’s current deal is due to expire at the end of the month and while the club do have the option to extend it, his future remains up in the air. Forshaw endured a difficult season with Leeds, missing most of the competition through injury.
However, he was fit enough to make 12 Premier League appearances and that includes a run in the side over the final two months, in which he played a key role. In a message posted on Instagram, the 31-year-old admits he is still trying to digest United’s failure to stay in the top flight, but he does believe supporters deserved better.

“After just over a week of reflection, still not really sure what to say,” he wrote. “We have let everyone associated with the club down and have to take responsibility.
“To the fans, you play your hard earned money to come and watch and it wasn’t good enough from our part. But I would like to thank you for your incredible support home and away as always.”
Forshaw joined Leeds in 2018 from Middlesbrough and while he has struggled with various injury issues, he has recorded 91 appearances for the West Yorkshire outfit.
