Adam Azim has repeated his vow to become world champion before he reaches 22-years-old.
'The Assassin' is becoming hot property in British boxing for his dazzling displays after turning professional with BOXXER on their Sky Sports platform. The rising star has seven wins to his name since turning over from the amateur scene which has earned him comparisons to the likes of Floyd Mayweather and long-term friend Khan.
Being the latest of a new crop of British-Asian talent, Azim is looking to follow in the footsteps of Khan by becoming world champion while inspiring young people to do the same. And the British star believes it could be within touching distance providing he continues to take the right steps after receiving advice from the former champion.
"Yeah it is certainly in my focus because I really want to become a world champion at a young age," Azim told Mirror Fighting . "Amir Khan did it really young at the age of 22 and I want to do it a young age too. I think I have it in me to become the next British-Pakistani world champion.
"I have never spoke to him specifically about the record, but he is certainly like a brother to me. He has always come to my fights and I have got very close to him as well. It would be great if I could match him and become the youngest world champion in this way as well but it is important to take it step-by-step."
Khan had a hugely successful career sharing the ring with the likes of Canelo Alvarez and bitter rival Kell Brook, while building a huge legacy inside and outside of the ring. The British star outboxed Andreas Kotelnik to earn his first title in 2009 which saw him catapult into stardom.

Azim is equally looking to continue his path to becoming a generational star with many including his trainer Shane McGuigan tipping him to reach the very top. Khan has been present at several of Azim's fights to date with his next set to come against undefeated Santos Reyes at the OVO Wembley Arena next weekend.
And Azim previously claimed that Khan has given him an insight into his previous training camps to help him prepare for tougher future tests. He told Sky Sports : “Amir Khan has paved the way for British Asians in boxing. He’s such a lovely guy. I’ve spent a lot of time with now.
“He tells me what he did in training, he tells me different types of stuff to do in training, what he used to do when he was younger “He’s been in massive fights, like [Marcos] Maidana, [Devon] Alexander, he’s fought in so many big fights and he can give me advice in future in my career.”
