'Actually think' - Ex-Manchester City star makes Liverpool title race admission

Former Manchester City winger Trevor Sinclair has admitted the 'advantage has swung' toward Liverpool and they are now favourites to win the Premier League title this season.

The Reds sit just one point behind the leaders in the table and have the opportunity to leapfrog City with a win over Watford in the early kick-off on Saturday. The two teams meet at the Etihad in a couple of weeks for what could be a title decider.

Pep Guardiola's side looked like they'd cruise to a second successive championship earlier this season as they comfortably sat top of the table in January. Now, Liverpool have closed the gap and so much so, Sinclair fears they may have the advantage over their rivals.

“I think Liverpool have got a slightly easier April,” he said on talkSPORT “You look at Watford, [Manchester] United are not the force they were, but you look at Manchester City’s April and it is ridiculously difficult.

“I would like to say City [are title favourites] but I actually think Liverpool. I think, one, Pep Guardiola, at times in big games, playing against Liverpool and Champions League finals, I think he tinkers too much.

“And two, you look at the Liverpool team and they’ve got more individual stars that can take the game by the scruff of the neck and actually go and win the game and I don’t think you see that with City. I think you’ve got the consistency there with Manchester City and you know they’re going to keep possession but I just feel I think it’s swung.

“I think the advantage has swung towards Liverpool."

Liverpool have won their last five league matches, while City only managed a 0-0 draw against Crystal Palace before the international break and were defeated 3-2 by Tottenham Hotspur back in February.

The top two teams in the country are also set to face each other in the FA Cup semi-finals later this month with a huge clash at Wembley on April 16.
