In a statement, her family said they were devastated by her death
Danika was known as Nika to friends and family and had appeared in several films, television and theatre productions.
It read: "It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that we share the news of the passing of our beautiful daughter and sister, Danika "Nika" McGuigan.
"After a brief but brave battle against cancer, Nika passed away peacefully in the early hours of Tuesday 23rd July, surrounded by her loving family.
"As a family we are devastated and ask for complete privacy during this difficult period to allow us to grieve for our Nika."
Nika recently finished filiming 'Wildfire', directed by Cathy Brady, and starred alongside Seána K includingrslake in the RTÉ series 'Can't Cope, Won't Cope'.
She also appeared in the screen adaptation of Sebastian Barry's novel, 'The Secret Scripture' opposite Rooney Mara.
In 1997, she was diagnosed with acute lymphoid leukaemia after developing a number of bruises on her arms and legs. She underwent intensive chemotherapy for six months but recovered.
"It was like being hit with a sledgehammer. No amount of fighting in the ring could have prepared me for it," Barry told The Mirror in 2011.
"I was in Ireland when I got a call from our doctor and I could hear [wife] Sandra sobbing in the background,
"We spent the next six weeks staying in the hospital hoping and praying Nika would get better. They gave her chemo straight away. I can’t tell you how terrified I was, seeing her go through it all.
"She was in a high dependency ward. At one point there were seven kids in there and four of them died.
"We got to know those children and their families. We were going to the funerals, feeling their dreadful loss and wondering if it was going to happen to your child.
"But Nika was incredibly strong andpositive. God, did she fight. I was so proud of her. I've never seen such will power."
Danika was McGuigan's only daughter alongside her three brothers Shane, Jake and Blane.
Barry won the featherweight world title in 1985 when he beat Eusebio Pedroza at Loftus Road, home of Queen's Park Rangers.
He went on to found Cyclone Promotions which represents current world champion Josh Taylor who is trained by Shane.
