Actors Kate Phillips, Amber Anderson, and Rosie Day have come together to establish a new female-led production company in London named Just John Films. The company aims to option, develop, and produce projects independently as well as in collaboration with other entities. Just John Films will bring a fresh perspective to storytelling, focusing on diverse and engaging narratives while fostering a supportive and creative atmosphere to elevate the filmmaking process.
Already, the company has announced its initial lineup of projects, including an adaptation of Annie Garthwaite's renowned historical novel 'Cecily,' centered around the Tudor figure Cecily Neville, and an upcoming Sylvia Plath project in partnership with Silver Salt Films. More projects are in the pipeline and will be revealed in the future.
Kate Phillips, known for her roles in 'Hijack,' 'Peaky Blinders,' and 'The Crown,' is a key figure in the company, currently reprising her role as Jane Seymour in the adaptation of Hilary Mantel's 'The Mirror and the Light.' Amber Anderson, recognized for her work in 'Peaky Blinders,' 'Black Mirror,' and 'Strike: The Cuckoo's Calling,' is also part of the team. Rosie Day, an award-winning actor, playwright, and filmmaker, is set to bring her creative vision to the company, with her one-woman show 'Instructions for a Teenage Armageddon' heading to the West End soon.
