During a recent awards ceremony, actors Mindy Kaling, Zach Braff, and Mekhi Phifer, all known for their portrayals of TV doctors, took the stage to present an award for outstanding writing for a drama series.

Mekhi Phifer, who portrayed a doctor on the popular NBC medical drama “ER,” expressed his gratitude for the opportunity to play a doctor on the show. He mentioned that he felt honored and shared that he drew inspiration from the real-life physicians he has encountered.

Mindy Kaling, known for her role as an OB/GYN on the show “The Mindy Project,” revealed that her portrayal of a doctor was influenced by her mother, who is also an OB/GYN. She spoke about how her mother's profession inspired her to take on the role.

Zach Braff, who played a doctor on the beloved sitcom “Scrubs,” took a more light-hearted approach when discussing his inspiration for the role. He humorously recounted his days waiting tables in Beverly Hills and jokingly mentioned eating hot dogs from 7-Eleven as a struggling artist. Braff quipped about being motivated to improve his circumstances and move away from that lifestyle.

The actors' reflections on their experiences playing doctors on television provided insight into the diverse sources of inspiration that can influence performers in their craft. Whether drawing from personal connections, real-life encounters, or humorous anecdotes, each actor brought a unique perspective to the portrayal of medical professionals on screen.
