Ganios rose to fame with his portrayal of tough, muscular characters in 1980s teen comedies and action movies. He made his film debut in Philip Kaufman's 'The Wanderers' in 1979, playing the role of Perry, a Bronx Italian-American street tough. Ganios showcased his acting range by taking on roles that required both physical presence and emotional depth.

One of Ganios' most notable roles was as Meat in the 1981 comedy 'Porky's,' where he played a high school student seeking revenge on a nightclub owner. Despite mixed reviews from critics, the film became a commercial success and spawned two sequels, solidifying Ganios' place in the hearts of fans.

Throughout his career, Ganios also appeared in films such as 'Porky's II: The Next Day' (1983) and 'Die Hard 2' (1990). He later semi-retired from acting after working on 'Rising Sun,' making brief appearances in a few films in the early '90s.

In a 2015 interview, Ganios reflected on his decision to return to acting briefly, citing the encouragement of fans who expressed disappointment at his absence from the screen. Despite the challenges of the entertainment industry, Ganios valued the support of his loyal followers.
