Actor Rakesh Pandey dies of cardiac arrest

Mumbai: Veteran actor Rakesh Pandey passed away due to a cardiac arrest on Friday morning. He was 77. 

According to Dynamite News correspondent, Pandey, who known for his contributions to both Hindi and Bhojpuri films, breathed his last at 8:50 am at Arogya Nidhi Hospital in Juhu, Mumbai, where he was being treated in the ICU.

The actor's last rites were performed at Shastri Nagar crematorium, with family and close acquaintances in attendance. He is survived by his wife, daughter Jasmeet and a granddaughter.

Rakesh Pandey's journey in the entertainment industry began with Basu Chatterjee's Sara Aakash (1969), a film that not only introduced him as a promising actor but also won him the prestigious President's Award.

Before making his mark in films, he was associated with theatre and trained at the Film and Television Institute of India (FTII) Pune and later at the Bhartendu Academy of Dramatic Arts.
