An actor known for his roles in popular TV shows and movies has pleaded guilty to interfering with police officers during the January 6th attack on the U.S. Capitol. The actor, aged 55, faces a maximum sentence of five years in prison after admitting to civil disorder, a felony charge.

Video footage captured the actor pushing against police and assisting rioters who were attacking officers guarding an entrance to the Capitol. The actor was seen holding a stolen police shield and passing it to other rioters during the chaotic events of that day.

The actor, who has appeared in various television shows and movies, was identified by three associates from photos published by the FBI. One of the associates even provided a text message in which the actor acknowledged being present at the Capitol on January 6th.

According to court documents, the actor used his cellphone to record rioters breaking through barricades and sent police officers retreating. He was also seen helping rioters flush out chemicals from their eyes after they were exposed to mace and tear gas.

The actor's attorney advised him not to comment to reporters as they left the courtroom. The sentencing guidelines recommend a prison term ranging from eight to 14 months, but the final decision lies with the judge who will sentence the actor on October 7th.

The actor's credits include roles in popular shows like 'Bob's Burgers' and 'Arrested Development,' as well as a part in the movie 'Anchorman.' The actor's involvement in the Capitol riot led to repercussions, including being 'banned' from the animated show 'Bob's Burgers.'

This guilty plea is part of a larger federal investigation into the events of January 6th, with over 1,400 individuals facing charges related to the attack on the U.S. Capitol. The actor's actions on that day have now resulted in legal consequences that could see him serving time in prison.
