Actor Brian Cox reveals creepy Edinburgh ghost encounter that had him hiding under his covers

Succession actor and famous son of Scotland Brian Cox has said that he once had a terrifying ordeal with a ghost in the capital.

Cox, 76, said that the paranormal encounter took place whilst he was a young actor plying his trade in Edinburgh.

The star will be appearing on this week’s ITV chat show, The Jonathan Ross Show, where he explained what happened with the ghost.

He said: “I went to bed one night. There was a chair right next to the dresser. Suddenly there is this rocking sound and the chair started to rock across the room… And then it stopped there.

“I got myself right under my covers… I woke up in the morning and the chair was still here and the floor was covered in these scratch marks.”

Not limiting himself to the unexplained, Cox also chatted about the much anticipated fourth and final series of the award-winning drama, which starts on Sky Atlantic from March 27, the Evening Standard reports.

He said: “It’s a rollercoaster. There’s a lot of stuff in it… I still can’t work it out.

“There’s been a remarkable closeness with all of us. I don’t really mind the show ending, but it’s the people, the folk. The crew, the wonderful camera operators… It’s the whole shebang. The whole lot. It’s the best thrill in the world, sad when it’s over.”

He added: “I think it’s going to be difficult for people. They become so addicted to the show.

“They don’t know why they like it as much as they do, there’s a lot of hateful people… that’s what audiences like, that horribleness of people.”

The Jonathan Ross Show airs Saturday and 9:40pm on ITV1 and ITVX.
